Back to Seattle via the Columbia Gorge
We left Brookings, Oregon on August 31 and headed to Springfield, Oregon. The next day we traveled east on the McKenzie Highway and were surprised to encounter The River Run Gallery full of amazing scuptures by Ken Scott. It was a fun experience to see all the creative work and meet the artist. We also ran into a Christmas Shop and found an ornament to remind us of the trip. We had a great day and enjoyed a comfortable night in our hotel. On September 1 we headed to the Columbia Gorge and were amazed by the beauty and the blessing of great weather. We watched people wind surfing on the Hood River and got to see one of the falls along the way. We stayed at Gresham, Oregon for two nights, so we were able to return the second day to the Multnomah Falls area and enjoyed seeing such a wonderful sight. Our last day of driving took us to Federal Way, Washington where we stayed and I got to go out with my childhood friends for supper. It was a great way to end our trip and after we spent a short night before getting up at 3:00 a.m. in order to get to the Seattle airport. We returned our car and made it to the airport by 5:00 or so and checked in and found our way to our terminal. We left on time from Seattle and made it to Denver with only a 45 minute layover. The dogs were so good on the flights and people enjoyed visiting with them and telling us stories about their own pets. We arrived in Iowa at about 2:30 p.m. and our daughter picked us up at the airport. We arrived home exhausted and ready to rest. Now we are getting back to the old routine and feel so fortunate to have had such an amazing trip.
