Day 8- From Cannon Beach, Oregon to Coos Bay, Oregon. We stayed as long as we could in Cannon Beach and finally packed our things and hit the road about eleven o'clock. It was hard to leave our wonderful view of Haystack, but we will have many more adventures ahead of us! We took highway 101 along the ocean on our way to Coos Bay, Oregon. It was a misty day and overcast, but the scenery made up for the mist. We entered Florence, Oregon and started seeing the many sand dunes that cover portions of the landscape. It is funny to see the pines, the ocean and the sand dunes along with the many rock formations as we drive. Between Florence and Coos Bay is the Oregon Dunes National recreation area. So, there were many dune buggies for rent along the way for people to climb the dunes and explore the area. There were many rocky shorelines and crashing waves and we saw large pieces of driftwood among the sand. On this trip we notices that more of the little communities are being developed, such as Netarts and Rockaway Beach. As with Cannon Beach, these little towns are developing the real estate along the coast with beautiful views of the water. As the real estate develops, so do the downtown shopping areas. This area is a "baby boomer" paradise, but mostly in the summer as the winter climate is more gloomy, windy and cooler. The weather today was about 60 degrees, low humidity and views that can't be described!
